Special Exhibition Room

slice-content_16Art crafts, documents, records and others, mainly national treasure “Ryukyu King Sho Family-Related documents” of the age of Ryukyu kingdom are displayed in a special exhibition room. As for art crafts, crown which had been inherited in Sho Family, king’s costumes which were gifted by Chinese emperor, gorgeous BINGATA/KASURI costumes which represent flourishing Kingdom, Ryukyu lacquerware, TSUBOYA pottery and others are exhibited and especially costume displays are changed monthly based on its theme. In addition, we have special exhibition of crown and king’s costumes twice a year, in spring and fall (Golden Week and around Culture Day). As for documents and records, introducing Sho Family and history of Ryukyu Kingdom with documents that are related to politics at the age of Ryukyu Kingdom and displayed by themes such as about relationship with SATSUMA and relationship between foreign ships.

Permanent Exhibition Room

 slice-content_30Warrior class culture in Shuri/Naha under the theme of “History of the City” is introduced in Permanent Exhibition Room. Main exhibits are documents which are inherited in each warrior class family that are approved by Shuri Government. They are composed of “KAFU” which family members, career track and others written, documents of appointment letter and others. Information associated with Shuri/Naha such as textile-dyeing products, lacquerware and calligraphic works and paintings are also exhibited.

*Project exhibition might be extended to Permanent Exhibition Room depends on the size of the exhibition.

 Project Exhibition Room

 slice-content_40At the Project Exhibition Room 5 – 6 times in a year, the exhibitions about “Naha” with various types of themes are held. The themes are wide range of age from Ryukyu Kingdom period through modern Okinawa which introduce history and culture in Naha City such as “Shureimon,” “famous bridges,” “brothels in Tsuji area,” “postcard” and “Kokusai Street.” 

*Project exhibition might be extended to Permanent Exhibition Room depends on the size of the exhibition.
